Moveable Type Letterpress Exhibition at Inkwell

Join Kyle Durrie, Portland, Oregon letterpress printer as she prints and talks about the craft that is letterpress!

Moveable Type will be setting up shop at Inkwell on Sunday, September, 25th for an afternoon consisting of an artist talk, printing demos, truck tours, as well as a letterpress printing workshop!

Durrie's traveling exhibition is a cross country project involving her outfitted 1982 Chevy step van and a few thousand pounds of lead, wood, iron & love.

Moveable Type Artist Talk
Kyle Durrie, proprietor of Power and Light Press and owner/operator of Moveable Type, will be giving an artist's talk and slide show on Sunday, September, 25th from 11am - 12pm. Kyle will discuss the evolution of her work, how the project came to be and share photos from her road trip across North America.

Letterpress Printing Demos
For part of the afternoon Kyle will conduct printing demos and truck tours that will include tall tales about life on the road. This event is free and open to the public.

Letterpress Printing Workshop
The workshop will cover some printing history, as well as basic typesetting, inking and printing. Participants will come away with some posters or small cards that they've designed and printed themselves!

Depending on the interest of the group, either a collaboration on a larger poster project, or smaller individual projects, such as business or greeting cards will be printed.

Busy Sunday, but excited about Moveable Type?
Kyle will be at the Seaport Farmers' Market, sharing a table with Letterpress Gang on Saturday, September 24th from 7am-4pm; and parked in the Granville Courtyard outside of the NSCAD University N Block on Friday, September 23rd conducting demos and chatting about letterpress from 12-8pm.
