I was first introduced to Kyle when I became a backer of her Kickstarter project. Shortly after we began to correspond by email and in no time at all plans were being hatched to bring her to Halifax. After 10 months, many emails and many more miles on the road, Kyle and her Moveable Type truck rolled into Halifax.

On Friday, September 23rd, Kyle was at NSCAD University and gave a noon hour talk on the history of her project. This was then followed by 7 hours of hands on demos in the Granville Courtyard. A steady flow of passerby's, students and classes came through and were able to take away a printed keepsake they made themselves.

Early Saturday morning, Kyle and myself were down at the Seaport Farmer's Market to setup for the day. We joined my fellow Letterpress Gang members and had a table with Power and Light Press and Letterpress Gang printed items. It was a wet day, but that didn't keep people away from buying hand printed merchandise or going through the Moveable Type truck and pulling a print to take home.

On Sunday, Inkwell hosted Moveable Type. Kyle gave a talk from 11-12. Crystal Vaughn did an excellent job of summarizing the talk over on her blog. After the talk there was a steady 2 hours of printing demos. These were then followed by small workshop where participants were able to create their own individual projects - business cards, invites and signage.
Kyle wrote about her time in Halifax over on the Moveable Type blog. Having set out what she had wanted to do, Kyle certainly instilled a new found love for letterpress in the hearts of many that weekend!
Leading up to the event there was some great press written by the Coast and Arts East.
Thanks again to Kyle, Letterpress Gang and the English Dept. at Mount Saint Vincent University. The team effort made the weekend a truly memorable experience!
